Think critically, solve problems,
become a change-maker.
Be entrepreneurial. Start something up.
Learn how to think critically, how to solve problems and how to become a changemaker. Startup High School provides virtual entrepreneurial studies for all high school students, and will be starting in Finland in fall 2017.
There are several program specific high schools in Finland, such as Sibelius High School for musicians, the Kallio Upper Secondary for performing arts and a variety of high schools for athletes. Now HundrED will partner with Slush and The Otava Academy to create an ambitious Startup High School. Using an online platform that students can attend and use as part of their studies, every Finnish high school can become a ‘Startup High School’, giving students access to this programme without switching to a specific school.
What is Startup High School?
‘Startup’ High School isn’t just about business. The programme aims to drive students to do great things in any area that interests them, and to feel empowered to make change happen. It presents the opportunity for school children to learn skills and build professional networks in any field they are passionate about, from business to charity work, the sciences to journalism, event organisation to NGOs – the possibilities are limitless.
In the first phase, during fall 2017 and spring 2018, Startup High School will consist of three courses : the basics of entrepreneurship, creative problem solving skills and actual real-world experience.
We are presently looking for ten schools and 100 students for the first pilot year. Once we have the completed this research, the goal is for every Finnish High School to be able to become a Startup High School from the fall of 2018 onwards.
Startup High School studies begin in the fall of 2017.
